Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how to tell us to stop. Written to be read rather than skimmed past.
The short version
This is a small website. There is nothing to buy here and no form to fill in — our online store is a separate site with its own privacy policy. We use two analytics tools to understand roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. We do not sell your information, we do not run advertising, and we do not build profiles on you.
If your browser tells us you do not want to be tracked, we do not load analytics at all. Not a reduced version — none of it.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4. When you visit, it may record:
- Which pages you viewed, in what order, and roughly how long you stayed
- How you arrived — a search engine, a link, or typing the address directly
- Your approximate location, at city or region level, worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses
- Your device type, browser, screen size, and language
- Certain interactions: scrolling to the bottom of a page, clicking a link that leaves our site, and downloading a file
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in your browser to tell repeat visits apart from new ones. They contain a randomly generated identifier, not your name or email address. You can see and delete them in your browser's settings for this site at any time.
We have enabled Google's email redaction, which strips email addresses out of analytics data before it is stored. We have also declined to share our analytics data with Google for its own product or advertising purposes.
Fonts
Our typefaces are served by Google Fonts. Loading them means your browser contacts Google directly, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Google states it does not use Google Fonts requests to build advertising profiles.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse. That involves handling your IP address. Cloudflare sets no cookies on this site.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and to measure how quickly pages load. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. For each page view it records the address of the page, the page you arrived from, your browser and operating system, how long the page took to display, and the country your request came from. Cloudflare receives your IP address as part of delivering the page and discards it rather than storing it. Because this measurement does not use location services, it may be processed in a country other than the one you are in.
Like Google Analytics, it does not load at all if your browser tells us you do not want to be tracked.
If you email us, we have whatever you chose to put in that email. We use it to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal information
- We do not run advertising or advertising trackers
- We have no social media pixels, no heatmaps, no session recording
- We do not ask you to create an account or take payments on this site — our online store does both, under its own policy
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13
How to opt out
The simplest method works automatically. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If you turn it on in your browser or extension, neither analytics tool loads on your visit. We also respect the older "Do Not Track" setting the same way.
Other options, if you prefer:
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on
- Block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings
- Use a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts
- Email us and ask, and we will tell you what we hold and delete it
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front — but the Global Privacy Control signal above is how you tell us to stop collecting in the first place.
If you are in California, this includes rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, it includes rights under the GDPR. Analytics load by default and stop when your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal; we do not currently show a consent banner.
To exercise any of these, email themarriageportfolio@gmail.com. We will not charge you or make you jump through hoops, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
How long we keep things
Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months and is then deleted automatically. Cloudflare Web Analytics data is kept by Cloudflare under its own retention schedule for that product. Emails you send us are kept as long as we need them to help you.
Children
This site is written for married adults and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
